Research Focus:  The study explores the vegetation in Shenduruney Wildlife Sanctuary, Kerala, along the altitudinal gradient to understand how different tree communities are formed. By studying the adult and regenerating communities, this work aims to investigate possible changes in regeneration patterns of different elevational assemblages and identify range shifts in this highly diverse and endemic landscape. The research will also look into the land use changes that have occurred in the sanctuary and the edaphic properties of soil along the altitude. By combining field, lab and satellite derived information, the significant interrelationships between different factors and the distribution of vegetation in the sanctuary will be identified.
